Contenuti | Il corso intende tracciare un profilo della storia della filologia e degli studi classici tra Ottocento e Novecento (A), focalizzando l'attenzione sulle figure di studiosi più significativi e sulle discussioni e polemiche che ne hanno segnato lo sviluppo. In particolare, una parte del corso (B) sarà dedicata ad approfondire lo stato e le tendenze dell'antichistica italiana nel periodo post-unitario e il suo rapporto con il modello tedesco. |

Metodologie didattiche | Il corso sarà basato principalmente su lezioni frontali. Si stimoleranno forme di partecipazione attiva e di interazione da parte delle studentesse e degli studenti. Si faranno intervenire, ove possibile, esperti della disciplina. |

Contents | The course aims to provide an overview on the history of philology and classical studies between the nineteenth and twentieth century (A), by focusing on the main figures of scholars and on some discussions and controversies which have marked the development of the discipline. A particular focus (B) will be devoted to the tendencies of classical studies in Italy after the Unification and to the relationship with the German model. |

Course objectives | 1. Knowledge and understanding: knowledge and understanding of the historical evolution of philogy and classical studies in 18th and 19th centuries. |
Prerequisites | - Good knowledge of the Greek and Latin language |
Teaching methods | The course mainly consists of frontal lectures. Forms of student’s active participation and interaction will be promoted. If possible, conferences will be held by experts in the discipline. |
