| Programma esteso | Durante il corso si leggeranno i poemi omerici esaminandone le strutture narrative, i personaggi, i temi mitologici, le tematiche etiche, cercando di istituire relazioni con moduli ricorrenti nella narrativa occidentale di altre epoche. |

| Course objectives | The intended learning outcomes, defined according to the European framework exemplified by the five Dublin Descriptors (2004), are as follows: |
| Prerequisites | For students enrolled in Classical Studies, a knowledge of Ancient Greek at the level normally acquired in secondary education (Liceo Classico) is required. For students in Cultural Heritage Studies, an interest in the subject matter is expected |
| Teaching methods | Lectures, seminars, written assignments, and participation in conferences and guest lectures delivered by invited scholars. |
| Assessment methods | Oral examination. Students may also prepare a written paper, particularly as part of the preliminary work for a bachelor's or master's thesis. |
| Other information | Additional study materials, including materials in foreign languages, will be provided during the course. |
| Detailed syllabus | During the course, the Homeric poems will be read and analyzed with particular attention to their narrative structures, characters, mythological themes, and ethical issues, while exploring their connections with recurring motifs and narrative patterns in Western literature of later periods. |
