Contenuti | Nel corso si attraverseranno diverse problematiche e prospettive della storia otto-novecentesca europea (come la globalizzazione, il sistema dell’arte, il rapporto fra pubblico e privato, il corpo fra organico e tecnologico, l’antropocene, la crisi della memoria) nella convinzione che la contemporaneità, oltre ad incarnare il presente, aggancia sempre anche il passato nei vari momenti e sfaccettature della storia, in un’irregolarità temporale e in un continuo confronto con l’identità dei luoghi, dei contesti, delle macro e microstorie. |

Obiettivi formativi | Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione dell’arte dell’XIX e XX secolo, anche applicata al riconoscimento di specifiche problematiche sul campo, utile alla capacità di apprendere la storia dell’arte attraverso un approccio laboratoriale. Da acquisire sarà anche la capacità di orientamento e scelta critica, fra strumenti cartacei e web, relativa ad obiettivi prestabiliti e condivisi, per sviluppare autonomia di giudizio ed abilità comunicative. |
Prerequisiti | Cognizione dei fondamenti della storia politica e culturale del periodo analizzato. |
Metodologie didattiche | Il corso sarà impostato su un’alternanza fra lezioni frontali ed esercitazioni, preliminari alla prova intercorso, che si svolgerà nell’ambito delle ultime dieci ore di lezione. |

Contents | Different perspectives and problems of the 19th and 20th-century European history (such as globalization, the art system, the relationship between public and private, the body between the organic and the technological, the crisis of memory) will be explored because the contemporary world also engages the past in the various moments and facets of history, in a temporal irregularity and in a continuous dialogue with the identity of places, environments, of macro and micro-history. Starting from some aspects and problems of the contemporary world, the main features of the history of the arts from the mid 19th century till the present day will be explored. |

Course objectives | Knowledge and understanding of the 19th and 20th-century art, also applied to the recognition of specific problems in the field, useful to the ability to learn the history of art through a workshop approach. The course also develops the ability to orientation and critical choice between paper and web tools relating to predetermined and shared goals, in order to develop independent judgment and communication skills. |
Prerequisites | knowledge of the political and cultural history of the period under scrutiny. |
Teaching methods | Lectures and lab sessions. The course will be split up in lectures and exercises, preliminary to the mid-term test, which will take place in the context of the last ten hours of lessons. |
Evaluation methods | Examinations: oral examination and mid-term test. |
Other information | In addition to the reference textbook, the course will provide students attending additional bibliographic information and will offer (also as a result of laboratory activity directed to iconographic research) documentation materials. |
