    Contenuti

    L'approccio metodologico seguito durante il corso si basa sui principi dell'Inglese per Scopi Speciali (ESP).
    Il programma d'insegnamento è diviso in macro argomenti che riguardano la storia dell’arte e l'archeologia, esclusivamente trattati in lingua inglese:

    - Art History and Intercultural communication
    - Art Appreciation
    - The role of the artist
    - Artistic movements
    - Famous Museums
    - Art and Media: world wide web, social media, traditional media
    - Art and inclusive language
    - Multimodal Analysis of Adverts, Paintings, and websites;
    - Archaeology, major sites and landmarks, and the role of the archaeologist.

    Si procederà allo studio dei macro argomenti attraverso le strategie di rielaborazione, sintesi e traduzione dei contenuti specifici ai fini di facilitare l'acquisizione di una serie di abilità linguistiche fondamentali per approfondire lo studio della lingua anche in altri ambiti professionali. Pertanto, si esaminera' l'utilizzo della lingua ingelse nelle sue caratteristiche testuali, funzionali, grammaticali, fonetiche e morfologiche.

    Obiettivi formativi

    Con riferimento ai descrittori di Dublino di seguito numerati, al termine del corso, lo studente dovra’:
    1. conoscenza e capacità di comprensione
    - comprendere testi scritti, orali e digitali relativi ad ambiti familiari e disciplinari;
    - comprendere elementi lessico-sintattici della lingua straniera;
    2. conoscenza e capacità di comprensione applicate
    - produrre testi scritti, orali relativi ad ambiti familiari;
    - utilizzare elementi lessico-sintattici della lingua straniera;
    - applicare strategie per tradurre testi dall’inglese all’italiano, per analizzare ed interpretare opere e eventi d’arte
    3. autonomia di giudizio
    - comprendere il messaggio artistico nella sua forma scritta, orale e multimodale;
    4. abilità comunicative
    - descrivere e commentare in modo semplice ma chiaro e corretto in lingua straniera il contenuto dei prodotti artistici in tutte le sue forme
    5. capacità di apprendere
    - sviluppare le conoscenze apprese in modo autonomo e auto-diretto.

    Prerequisiti

    Conoscenza della lingua straniera di livello B1 Plus del Quadro di riferimento Europeo (CEF); le 4 abilità linguistiche saranno studiate in modo integrato.

    Metodologie didattiche

    L1. Lezioni frontali: utilizzando il modello 'workshop'
    2. Laboratorio: supporto linguistico a sportello;
    3. ore in auto-apprendimento con l'utilizzo di ambienti di e-learning.

    L'acquisizione dei contenuti è facilitata dal materiale didattico che consiste in:
    - Presentazioni PowerPoint;
    - Sintesi dei capitoli dello study pack.

    Si consiglia l'utilizzo di:
    - Grammatiche di riferimento reperibili online
    - Dizionario di riferimento reperibile online

    Metodi di valutazione

    L'insegnamento prevede una prova orale sui contenuti del corso. La valutazione di basera' sui seguenti aspetti: la capacità di esprimersi correttamente in lingua inglese; la conoscenza dei contenuti; la coerenza delle risposte, tenendo conto della completezza delle risposte.

    Il voto è attribuito in trentesimi in base alla seguente griglia:

    - Mancato superamento dell’esame: il candidato non raggiunge alcun obiettivo formativo;
    - Da 18 a 20: Livello appena sufficiente. Il candidato raggiunge solo i risultati previsti al punto “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione”;
    - Da 21 a 23: Livello pienamente sufficiente. Il candidato raggiunge, in particolare, i risultati di apprendimento previsti ai punti “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione” e “applicazione di conoscenza e capacità di comprensione”;
    - Da 24 a 26: Livello buono. Il candidato raggiunge i risultati di apprendimento previsti ai punti “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione”, “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione applicate” e “autonomia di giudizio”;
    - Da 27 a 29: Livello molto buono. Il candidato raggiunge i risultati di apprendimento previsti ai punti “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione”, “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione applicate”, “autonomia di giudizio” e “abilità comunicative”
    - 30: Livello elevato. Il candidato raggiunge pienamente i risultati di apprendimento previsti in tutti I punti
    - 30 e lode: Livello eccellente. Il candidato raggiunge in maniera eccellente i risultati di apprendimento previsti in tutti i punti.

    Contents

    Course content and approach draw on the methodological principles of English for Special Purposes (ESP).
    The teaching program is divided into macro topics concerning the History of Art and Archaeology. In particular, the following topics will be explored:

    - Art History and Intercultural communication
    - Art Appreciation
    - The role of the artist
    - Artistic movements
    - Famous Museums
    - Art and Media: world wide web, social media, traditional media
    - Art and inclusive language
    - Multimodal Analysis of Adverts, Paintings, and websites;
    - Archaeology: major sites and landmarks, and the role of the archaeologist.

    The study of macro topics will be conducted through text re-elaboration, synthesis, and translation. Course content will also be explored with the aim of facilitating the acquisition of a series of language skills required for further study in other professional fields. Therefore, the study of the English language will be explored by taking into consideration its textual, functional, grammatical, phonological, and morphological characteristics.

    Course objectives

    The course objectives are designed according to the Dublin descriptors and facilitate the acquisition of the following skills:
    1. Knowledge and understanding
    - Understanding written, oral and digital texts concerning familiar and disciplinary fields;
    - Understanding lexical and syntactical elements of the foreign language;
    2. Applying knowledge and understanding
    - Produce written and oral texts related to familiar fields;
    - Use lexical and syntactic elements of the foreign language;
    - Apply translation strategies from English into Italian; apply strategies to evaluate and interpret art products as well as art events;
    3. Making judgments
    - Understanding the message of written, oral and multimodal texts;
    4. Communication
    - Describe and comment on the content of texts and art products in all of its manifestations with accuracy and appropriacy in a foreign language;
    5. Lifelong learning skills
    - Develop knowledge acquired through autonomous and self-directed learning;
    - Conduct individual research projects on the course topics.

    Prerequisites

    Course level is B1 Plus (see CEF); language study and use regard all 4 skills.

    Teaching methods

    Lectures, lab sessions, seminars, conferences, self-study components VIA e-learning environments.

    To facilitate the acquisition of knowledge regarding the course, other teaching materials, such as summaries of course chapters from the study pack, and PowerPoint presentations.

    Online grammars and dictionaries are strongly suggested.

    Evaluation methods

    Course Exam description
    Student evaluation is based on the application of oral assessment processes which reflect the level of course content attainment and the fulfillment of course requirements.


    The level of overall student achievement and performance is assigned according to a numerical scale and considers the following criteria:
    Below 18/30 mark: Fail. The student has not successfully achieved any of the course objectives;
    - From 18 to 20: Fair achievement level. The student has only partially reached course objectives; the learning outcomes are narrowly aligned with the category of "knowledge and understanding";
    - From 21 to 23: Sufficient achievement level. The student has acceptably reached course objectives; the learning outcomes are aligned with the categories of "knowledge and understanding" and "application of knowledge and understanding";
    - 24 to 26: Good achievement level. The student has effectively reached course objectives; the learning outcomes are aligned with the categories of "knowledge and understanding", "application of knowledge and understanding" and "autonomy of judgement";
    - From 27 to 29: Very good achievement level. The student has successively reached course objectives; the learning outcomes are fully aligned with the categories of "knowledge and understanding", "application of knowledge and understanding", "autonomy of judgement" and "communication skills" ;
    - 30: Excellent achievement level. The student’s excellent performance has resulted in the full achievement of course objectives; the learning outcomes are aligned with all the categories;
    - 30 cum laude: Outstanding achievement level. The student excels in the discipline, thus fully reaching all course objectives and mastering expected learning outcomes within all categories.
