L’insegnamento intende fornire un’introduzione alla storia greca dall'Età del Bronzo all'Ellenismo. Particolare attenzione sarà rivolta alla storia della Magna Grecia.

L'insegnamento, coerentemente con i descrittori di Dublino, si propone di far acquisire agli studenti un efficace metodo di studio, le conoscenze di base della disciplina e la capacità di applicare le conoscenze acquisite. In particolare, gli studenti dovranno acquisire: la padronanza delle linee fondamentali dello sviluppo storico del mondo greco, collocando fatti e problemi nel tempo e nello spazio; la capacità di esporre quanto appreso in una forma corretta ed organica, utilizzando il lessico specifico della disciplina; la capacità di argomentare in forma autonoma e corretta.

Competenze linguistiche e conoscenze e storico-geografiche di base acquisite negli anni della scuola superiore.

Lezioni frontali, con analisi di documenti storici; eventuale partecipazione a seminari o conferenze.

La verifica dell'apprendimento avverrà attraverso un esame orale, la cui valutazione terrà conto del livello delle conoscenze specifiche del candidato, della coerenza delle risposte, della correttezza linguistica. Il voto finale sarà calcolato nel seguente modo:
- Al di sotto di 18: Mancato superamento dell’esame. Il candidato non raggiunge alcun obiettivo formativo;
- Da 18 a 20: Livello appena sufficiente. Il candidato raggiunge solo i risultati previsti al punto “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione”;
- Da 21 a 23: Livello sufficiente. Il candidato raggiunge, in particolare, i risultati di apprendimento previsti ai punti “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione” e “applicazione di conoscenza e capacità di comprensione”;
- Da 24 a 26: Livello buono. Il candidato raggiunge i risultati di apprendimento previsti ai punti “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione”, “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione applicate” e “autonomia di giudizio”;
- Da 27 a 29: Livello molto buono. Il candidato raggiunge i risultati di apprendimento previsti ai punti “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione”, “conoscenza e capacità di comprensione applicate”, “autonomia di giudizio” e “abilità comunicative”;
- 30: Livello elevato. Il candidato raggiunge pienamente i risultati di apprendimento previsti in tutti i punti;
- 30 e lode: Livello eccellente. Il candidato raggiunge in maniera eccellente i risultati di apprendimento previsti in tutti i punti.

Gli studenti non frequentanti elimineranno dal programma quanto indicato al punto (c) nei "Testi di riferimento", ma integreranno la loro preparazione attraverso lo studio del volume di M. Lupi, "Sparta. Storia e rappresentazione di una città greca", Carocci Editore, Roma 2017.

The course aims to offer an introduction to Greek history from the Bronze Age to Hellenism. Special attention will be paid to the history of Greek cities in Southern Italy.

The course, coherently with the Dublin descriptors, aims to provide students with an effective study method, the basic knowledge of the subject and the ability to apply the acquired knowledge. More specifically, students will have to acquire: the mastery of the basic lines of the historical development of the Greek world, placing facts and problems in time and space; the ability to expose what has been learned in a correct and coherent form, using the specific vocabulary of the discipline; the ability to argue autonomously and correctly.

Linguistic skills and basic historical-geographical knowledge acquired during the high school years.

Lectures, with analysis of historical documents; possible participation in seminars or conferences.

The assessment will take place through an oral exam, whose evaluation takes into account the level of the student's specific knowledge, the coherence of the answers and the linguistic correctness. The final grade is assigned according to a numerical scale and considers the following criteria:
- Below 18/30 mark: Fail. The student has not successfully achieved any of the course objectives;
- From 18 to 20: Barely adequate achievement level. The student has only partially reached course objectives; the learning outcomes are narrowly aligned with the category of "knowledge and understanding";
- From 21 to 23: Sufficient achievement level. The student has acceptably reached course objectives; the learning outcomes are aligned with the categories of "knowledge and understanding" and "application of knowledge and understanding";
- 24 to 26: Good achievement level. The student has effectively reached course objectives; the learning outcomes are aligned with the categories of "knowledge and understanding", "application of knowledge and understanding" and "autonomy of judgement";
- From 27 to 29: Very good achievement level. The student has successively reached course objectives; the learning outcomes are fully aligned with the categories of "knowledge and understanding", "application of knowledge and understanding", "autonomy of judgement" and "communication skills";
- 30: Excellent achievement level. The student’s excellent performance has resulted in the full achievement of course objectives; the learning outcomes are aligned with all the categories;
- 30 cum laude: Outstanding achievement level. The student excels in the discipline, thus fully reaching all course objectives and mastering expected learning outcomes within all categories.

Students who do not attend classes will remove from their program what is indicated in section (c) of "Textbook", but will integrate their preparation by reading M. Lupi, "Sparta. Storia e rappresentazione di una città greca", Carocci Editore, Rome 2017.
